Snow leopards are one of the most beautiful but endangered animals on the planet so like many, I have never had the fortune of seeing one in the wild. After visiting The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent and having the experience of stroking a snow leopard against the mesh, I was inspired to draw a portrait of the very snow leopard I had met in the safety of her compound. It was essential to highlight the muscle tones in her face to show the immense power these big cats have.
This original piece was drawn using Derwent Artist Pencils and Soft Pastels on 285gsm acid free paper.
